rebuilding timer

Has anyone taken the timer off their stove ?
Our porcelain is perfect and we don't want to risk chipping it, but the timmer sticks and we want to repair it.
Also,are the oven bypass and the oven pilot a duplicatin if you don't have the safety valve? Should we adjust one and turn the off?

Hi Ya'll, Be very careful when removing the Timer Knob. You need to pull very straight with a light touch. If it feels like it won't come off, Stop. Now spray a little penitrating oil behind the knob trying to hit where the timer shaft goes into the Knob. Let it soak a few hours and try to pull off again.....If you pull at an angle or too hard, You will pull the timer shaft off the timer, instead of the knob off of the shaft. If the shaft pulls off the timer, it's a goner!

On the subject of oven adjustments, get the Service manual and follow it through all the Oven/Thermostat adjustments. Don't just "Turn something off", if you don't know what it is.
